Twitter use has doubled for users ages 25-34, according to a new study from the Pew Internet and American Life Project.

More than one in 10 adults online in the United States uses Twitter, according to a new study from the Pew Internet and American Life Project.

The latest numbers put Twitter use at about 13 percent, a marked increase from the first time the center asked specifically about Twitter use in November 2010. At that time, only 8 percent of adults online used Twitter.

Twitter use has doubled in users ages 25-34 and increased from 8 percent to 14 percent among those 35 to 44 years old.

Those between 18 and 29 are the most likely to use the micro-blogging service.

African Americans and Latinos are far more likely to use the service. A quarter of black respondents said they were on Twitter, compared to only 9 percent of white respondents. Nineteen percent of Hispanics surveyed said they used the site.
